I don’t know what he did this time. I don’t even understand what he’s trying to say.
Update:
This is rich.
“SHE CAN’T MODULATE THE TORQUE STEER” i’m dying

Maybe he drove around with the valve cover off?
![]() 04/21/2016 at 19:30 |

I think that’s what it looks like but I’d like to put him above that.

Is there more of this? Because this is hilarious.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 19:32 |

I have some old screenshots I could dig up. He at first asked me if I knew any place to get cheap miata engines. The car already had a re manufactured one in it.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 19:32 |

Well it’s either that or they’re calling something a valve cover that’s not a valve cover.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 19:35 |
|
Maybe he removed the valve cover and put it back without replacing the gasket?
Also, in what possible context is removing a valve cover “suspicious"?

I hope you sent a link to a LS crate engine

SR20 is needed.

You have to give us the whole story, nothing less will do!

This is like the pathetically drunk guy you see in the bar, and you’re really not sure if you want to pity him and take him home or just laugh.

Why Not A 13B?
![]() 04/21/2016 at 20:34 |

Like is he doing it in public?
![]() 04/21/2016 at 20:38 |

Even if he is, I’m not sure what suspicions it’s supposedly arousing. “Hey, I suspect that guy is replacing his valve cover gasket!”
Only, you know, maybe not replacing it if oil is going everywhere afterwards. :)
![]() 04/21/2016 at 20:45 |

at this point I’d just call him and ask:
![]() 04/21/2016 at 20:46 |
|
This is all “I don’t know how a car works, I know some names of parts, help me oh god why is my engine glowing green.”
![]() 04/21/2016 at 20:46 |

I await more. The curiosity is strong.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 20:49 |

That looks like coolant smoke, not oil smoke. I don’t think it’s possible for worn valve guides to cause that much smoke in the first place.
Also how would the crank bend?
![]() 04/21/2016 at 20:50 |

just added one.

I need to do a full collection post on everything this kid has sent me over the years.

Look at his street racing conversations.

I don’t have an instagram account, so I’ll just take your word for it.

I got a vibe that maybe he was trying to swap one from a different car - like during a test drive at a dealership or maybe. Sounds like the gasket surface is damaged on his.

FYI, I would block out that number. I know that no right thinking person on here would even think to harass this guy, but there could be a few crazy lurkers out there.
Nonetheless, good taste in cellular devices. Android for lyfe.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 21:27 |

I thought about it but it takes time at this point. I’ve also posted his number before and he doesn’t really care.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 21:32 |

Well that’s OK, then.
Anywho, I’ve been thinking it over with friends and we might be up in Boone for a weekend soon, to hike and do other things. What things are to be done? I went to Boone when I was eight, and the only thing I remember doing is eating at the Pizza Hut and seeing my first Tercel 4WD Wagon.

Shims? Like gaskets? My head hurts trying to remove this much logic.

Parkway, hiking, Blowing Rock has some cool shops, mountain biking at rocky knob and other leisure activities. Really not much outside of hiking. Most of the scenic ones are off the parkway.
If you come to App I can show you the thermomolder, the CNC machines, the laser cutter, and the design department’s roof lounge.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 21:52 |
|
OK, sounds like fun. I can’t actually hike for too long due to my back issues. And roof lounge sounds interesting.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 21:55 |
|
It’s just an old chair someone left on the roof. But we do have full roof acess.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 21:56 |
|
Also for a fun drive take US 221 from Linville to Blowing Rock.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 22:32 |
|
I do think under North Carolina Statute 4.20, a chair on a roof immediately quantifies the aforementioned roof as a roof lounge. These are just facts.
But I don’t think we’ll be on 221, as we will probably be in an old Grand Cherokee with 165,000 on it and broken and/or sticky everything.

It’s a blast in anything.
You’re pretty spot on with the roof thing. Also strangely enough since they’re state owned buildings they don’t have to meet code.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 22:49 |

Wait. State owned buildings don’t have to meet code?
![]() 04/21/2016 at 22:51 |

Yup. At least that’s what they tell me. I believe it.
My work space is hazardous AF

Care to explain? This baffles me. I did the Town of Cary School of Government, and they boasted how everything is not terrible.
Oh, my English teacher graduated from App.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 23:16 |
|
It’s entirely possible that the University just forgot that we had these buildings. Most people here don’t even know we have a design program and they think the building we use is for maintenance.
![]() 04/22/2016 at 06:33 |

I’m too confused to even make a comment on what the hell he may be doing. Poor grammar only adds to the confusion.

Deleted.
(Still asleep. saw smoke on startup and immediately thought we were talking about a bmw.)

Shims for valve adjustments, I guess. Presumably he wants to use BMW valve shims to do an adjustment on the Miata engine?

I bet I can guess what happens at night on “Blowing Rock.”
